The Republic in İstanbul

With a selection from the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Photography Collection, the exhibition focuses on Republic Day celebrations in the İstanbul of the early Republican period. Civilian and military groups, government officials, artisans’ associations, boy scouts as well as students from universities, high schools and junior high schools gather for a procession that reaches from Beyazıt Square to Taksim Square, embodying the speed of social transformation and the construction of a new identity.
